The last couple of weeks I was busy with a project and Friday Playday became Weekend Playday. Nothing wrong with that, but Fridays always have a different feel to it. Perhaps because every one knows the weekend will soon start.
Today I have to bring my car to the garage and that happens to be at Zandvoort. A good excuse to wander along the beach and clearing my head. And while clearing my head, new ideas flow in. This afternoon I will be working on a project for Global Clowning. I recently joined the board and have taken on the forming of the Global Clowning Youth Advisory Council. Together with a group of 17/18 years olds I’m making plans on how to connect children who are less privileged with the more “privileged” children in this world. The idea is that if you can build bridges between those two worlds you can raise awareness to the same age groups on issues like child labour, education, and safety. So this afternoon is about putting my ideas on paper on how these two worlds can meet. One of the ideas we are working on is a photography project. To photograph the children in the world asking them one question related to the children’s right of the United Nations. We will tell the stories all based on strength and positivity and it should turn a smile on your face.
This year we will start with the refugees in Amsterdam and Haarlem, next year the plan is to go abroad. And each year on September 20th, the Universal Children’s Day, we will exhibit and tell the stories of these children.
So, what’s this all got to do with Play you ask? Well, it’s all about Play.
It’s about that with being a volunteer you create a playground where you for example can develop new skills. Or that you can work on that secret dream you have. Or it is about rediscovering parts of you that you have forgotten about. That’s what Play is all about. Exploring. Development. Building confidence. Purpose. Dreaming. Creativity.
So, time to write down these ideas for Global Clowning.
And if you want to participate, have ideas on how to put Global Clowning’s Youth Advisory board in the spotlight, together with the stories of all these children in the world. Or you want to adopt this project as a company, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Wishing you all a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.
