I learned that more than half the population is overweight. And 32% of the population has a chronic disease with will grow to 40% in 2030. It’s just a matter of time before we can’t pay the healthcare bills anymore. Interesting that mainly the government, tech companies and science is looking for solutions, while there is one obvious group that should be fully involved also. Companies.
Let’s face it, if 32% of the population has a chronic disease, it means companies are dealing with the same amount of employees who can’t work.
If we want these numbers to decrease, we need to start changing habits and lifestyle. Working between 30 to 40 hours a week in the office you should think companies take up the prevention role, if only for them to save costs in the long term.
One of the interesting and simple solutions could be nature. If we create a natural environment in offices where employees with their colleagues can enjoy a green habitat, where they can freely move around, where they can get fresh air and healthy food from the urban company farms. Wouldn’t you think that – long term – sick leave numbers would go down? I’m interested to hear about companies that have made this link between work and nature.
